FOC
FOC is a wordless, mid-format, mostly-visual street show that revolves around fire; fire as a plot element, as well as an aesthetic resource; fire that can scare beasts away and make us feel at home, but can also make us feel helpless if we lose control of it; fire as a creative force that forges iron; fire as a playful element that plays a huge part in our Catalan traditions.
FOC doesn't have a classic plot line, but it does have a sequence of actions that build images and recognizable situations: the challenge of setting it alight, the challenge in putting it out, how it protects us and how powerful it can make us.

Nosferatu Revisited
For a modern viewer, who sees modern visual presentations all the time on all kinds of screens, approaching classic silent cinema demands a special effort. It has to be put into context, staged and properly explained so we can really enjoy these wonderful old films. L'Avalot, in collaboration with Passatge Insòlit, has worked on a uniquely special film: Nosferatu by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. We pay tribute to this horror classic by creating a staged musical show around it. The idea is not to watch the film in its entirety, but to convey the love we feel for this cinematic masterpiece. We first presented this show to an audience at the eighteenth edition of the “Passatge Insòlit” festival (2023).
Five fragments of the film alternate with scenes and monologues. A Chinese shadow puppet scene recounts the origins of cinema, a monologue explains the strange circumstances of the film, a speech is presented made from fragments taken from the original intertitles that do not appear in our screening, a tour around Europe on a map follows the protagonists of the film... all of these performed by the four musicians themselves, who accompany the screening playing live with their unusual instruments: tuba, euphonium, trumpet, violin, guitar, accordion, musical saw and a selection of percussion instruments.
